The leading 3D printing service and marketplace, Shapeways, has announced a joint venture with US-based Stratasys, which will see the duo provide designers and creators with easier access to full-colour multi-material 3D printing.

The new service is inspired from one of the only full-colour, multi-material 3D printers in the world: the Stratasys J750, which the companies anticipate will bring the full potential of the printer to a wider market.

It is hoped the printer will reduce time-to-market and time-to-revenue, in addition to allowing designers and engineers to create highly realistic prototypes with efficient design-to-prototype workflows.

Greg Kress, CEO of Shapeways, said: “The vivid colours of the Stratasys J750 3D Printer will enable the Shapeways community of designers, businesses, students, and artists to realize their brightest ideas and boldest ambitions in true physical form with full-colour, texture mapping and colour gradients.”

“It’s exactly what our customers have been asking for.”

The Stratasys J750 3D Printer provides over 500,000 colour combinations, highly accurate colour-matching, transparent to opaque colour gradients, and advanced clear material with texture to enable the printer to come to life.
