The manufacturing sector may not have a Nobel Prize category, but there are awards to enter - from Frost & Sullivan to the MX Awards, here’s our Top 10

10. The Deming Prize

JUSE

A prestigious award for quality management in the manufacturing sector, Japan’s Deming Prize is awarded to manufacturers who are leading the way in quality control.

Dr. W. E. Deming (1900 - 1993) was a quality control expert in the USA who was invited to Japan by the Union of Japanese Scientists and Engineers (JUSE) in 1950. The award sprang from his work in the country.

9. The European Manufacturing Leadership Award

Manufacturing Strategies Summits 

Manufacturing Leadership in Europe heads up these awards to celebrate manufacturing excellence and transformation across the industry. Key themes for 2023 include using digital technology to improve efficiency, reduce costs and optimise resources, as well as utilising lean tools and precision of automation.

8. Automotive Lean Production Awards

Agamus Consult 

Agamus Consult was founded in 1994 and is based in Germany, with offices in Munich and Berlin. Agamus works across lean manufacturing, the supply chain, product-life-cycle and maintenance management. Agamus believes in the power of digitalisation, as long as it is led by responsible manufacturers.

7. HMA

Hunter Manufacturing Awards Inc.

The Hunter Manufacturing Awards champions high skills and high tech in the manufacturing sector, where it leads in education and collaboration. HMA works closely with its partners to build an enduring manufacturing industry which is ready for the future. Its awards promote excellence via its contemporary and future-focused streamlined awards.

6. The World Manufacturing Foundation Awards

The World Manufacturing Foundation

The World Manufacturing Foundation celebrates manufacturing excellence across the manufacturing sector. The 2022 awards took place at the Porsche Experience Center Franciacorta in Italy in November, uniting international industry leaders as well as academics and researchers, who enjoyed keynote speeches, roundtables and networking events focused on supply chains in the new era of manufacturing.

5. The India Manufacturing Excellence Awards (IMEA)

Instituted by Frost & Sullivan

For over 60 years, Frost & Sullivan has powered clients toward a more efficient future. The company leads The India Manufacturing Excellence Awards (IMEA), which takes place in Chennai and is India’s most respected manufacturing award. 

The 2023 IMEA assessment framework focuses on Manufacturing Capability, Extended Supply Chain Reliability and Technology Adoption.

4. German Innovation Award

Presented by the German Design Council

The German Innovation Award was founded in 1953 and is led by The German Design Council, a centre of expertise. The award celebrates innovative products, solutions and projects in the manufacturing sector, as well as other industries, with one goal: to increase brand value on a sustained basis via the strategic use of design in communication.

3. The Australian Export Awards - Manufacturing Category

The Australian Export Awards 

The Australian Export Awards honours Australian manufacturers who have brought their products to the international market. Led by Austrade (The Australian Trade and Investment Commission), the awards ‘connect Australian businesses to the world and the world to Australian business’ and aims to transform local connections into valuable exports.

2. The Manufacturing Excellence Awards (MX Awards) - South Africa

MX Awards 

Organised by The Manufacturer and in partnership with the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), The Manufacturer MX Awards has awarded innovation and celebrated manufacturers for over 50 years.

Johannesburg, South Africa, featured in our Top 10 Manufacturing Cities, which you can read here. The city is responsible for 17% of South Africa’s GDP and is home to many manufacturers, such as leading chemical manufacturer AECI and Africa's largest packaging company, Nampak.

1. Frost & Sullivan Manufacturing Leadership Awards

Frost & Sullivan North America 

The Frost & Sullivan Manufacturing Leadership Awards are presented by Frost & Sullivan, a business consulting service, which guides businesses in their transformational growth journeys. The awards celebrate manufacturing achievements and innovations in North America.

In October, Frost & Sullivan 2023 Competitive Strategy Leadership Award went to VicOne.
