Smurfit Kappa launches new initiative to build on sustainable packaging future
The Ireland-based packaging leader, Smurfit Kappa, has unveiled its ‘Smurfit Kappa Better Planet Packaging’ in a bid to look to the future of sustainable packaging.
It is expected that the new initiative will expand on the company’s expertise in packaging, innovation and sustainability following its launch at its European Management Conference in Berlin last week.
The firm describes its ‘Smurfit Kappa Better Planet Packaging’ as being a “multi-faceted initiative comprising futuristic product design, extensive research and development and collaboration with existing and new partners.”

“We are very excited about launching the ‘Smurfit Kappa Better Planet Packaging’ initiative which will enable us to explore and re-imagine the packaging that we need for a sustainable world,” said Arco Berkenbosch, VP of Innovation and Development.
“This will be another step forward in fulfilling our vision of creating sustainable packaging for our customers and their consumers.”
As one of the largest paper-based packaging solutions firms in the world, Smurfit Kappa employs approximately 46,000 people worldwide in around 370 production sites in 35 different countries.
In 2017, the firm confirmed a total revenue of €8.6bn.
