Airbus has broken ground on a new A220 aircraft manufacturing facility in Alabama, USA.
Located in Mobile, Alabama, the new assembly line will be the company’s second US-based commercial aircraft production facility.
The $300mn assembly plant is expected to assemble four A220s a month, according to Assembly Magazine.

The new assembly line will be located adjacent to the company’s existing A320 assembly line at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley.
Production at the new assembly line is expected to begin in the third-quarter of 2019 and will create more than 400 full-time jobs in Mobile.
Over the last three years, Airbus says it has spent around US$48bn in the US.
“Together we’ve already put Mobile on the map in the world of global aviation, and together we are making a new mark for the future,” Jeff Knitte, Airbus Americas CEO, told Industry Week.
