Mabey welcomes two new CEOs to expanding divisions

Globally-leading bridge and engineering services specialist, Mabey, has appointed two new CEOs to head up two of its expanding divisions.
Mabey’s UK Hire arm has been taken over by Gordon MacDonald, who has previously worked as MD for Elliot Hire and two Wolsley Group subsidiaries, plus roles at MFI and Safeway.
Mabey Group Chief Executive Juliette Stacey said: “Mabey is putting high quality customer service at the heart of our company and Gordon’s extensive retail experience is exactly what we need to drive consistency and growth across the UK Hire business. He will bring in a lot of what is common practice in the retail sector to the construction industry, helping us to focus on delivering excellent service to our customers. This, combined with our leading infrastructure monitoring services, means Mabey is well-placed to deliver future success for our customers and our business.”
MacDonald added: “Mabey has been listening to its customers and we’re improving our business based on their needs. We’re already making changes, having introduced national key accounts for some customers with a dedicated service and a single point of contact. Mabey’s instrumentation services are market-leading and becoming increasingly important as a preventative measure for infrastructure and critical for environmental monitoring with urban developments. I am tremendously excited to take up this position.”
In Australia, Mabey Pty has been taken over by Brendon Flaxman, who boasts over 20 years of experience in construction services and property sectors, previously working for Aplant and Century 21 Real Estate.
Flaxman stated: “By focusing on our customers, Mabey Pty is well positioned to expand its business here in Australia and New Zealand by expanding our range of products, including bridging, and engineered services.”
Stacey concluded: “The markets for modular bridging and construction services are expanding across the UK, US and Australasia and we wanted to strengthen our leadership team to manage that growth. In Gordon and Brendon, we have experienced leaders who bring great knowledge of how to address customers’ increasingly complex engineering challenges.”
